1. These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel [still] on the [east] side of the Jordan [River] in the wilderness, in the Arabah [the deep valley running north and south from the eastern arm of the Red Sea to beyond the Dead Sea], over near Suph, between Paran and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
2. It is [only] eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea [on Canaan’s border; yet Israel took forty years to get beyond it].
Seir, translated from Hebrew means an intense emotional experience. If we look at Deuteronomy 1-2 we can see that a lot of our own growth can happen faster if we face the truth and choose a narrow path of following God’s wisdom rather then a wider paths of this world. However, oh how it is hard not to get caught within our own Moun Seir’s.
Prayer: My Lord give me today the strength and wisdom to make it through my Mount Seir so I too can be victorious and be a witness of your grace in the promised land.
